Megalithic Temples of Malta 🇲🇹❤️🌍 Are these the oldest on Earth? 🤔 Second only to the 'Göbekli Tepe' in Turkey, these temples are the oldest free standing structures on Earth. Built during the Neolithic period, these temples are a UNESCO World Heritage site. The Maltese islands are covered with 6 different megalithic temples scattered over 2 islands. The oldest being the 'Ġgantija temples' on the island of Gozo, Malta's sister island. 🇲🇹 In this video, I feature the 'Ħaġar Qim' and the 'Mnajdra' temples, located in the southwest of the island of Malta, in the village of Qrendi. These temples outdated the Great Pyramid and Stonehenge by over 1,000 years! 😳 They align with the summer and winter solstices and counted dates and years accurately using the sun. ☀️ The Ħaġar Qim and Mnajdra temples are located a few hundred meters from each other and are both covered to protect them from any further weathering from the environment. ☀️ If you're living on, or visiting the Maltese Islands, might I suggest you taking the time to explore this part of Malta's unique history. 📚 Tickets can be purchased online or on-site and range from €5.50 to €10 for adults or children.
