“Which attractions are genuinely good for children in Malta? Popeye Village, Aquarium, Mellieha Bay, Blue Lagoon. Tested by families.”
Malta is one of the best destinations for families with children. A compact island, safe beaches with clean water, a mild climate, and dozens of attractions suited to different age groups.
Colourful wooden houses built as a film set for Popeye (1980). Now a themed entertainment village. Water fun, costumes, musicians, a simple swimming zone. For children aged 3–10 — a definite hit.
Location: Anchor Bay, Mellieha (about 40 minutes' walk from Seabank Hotel, there and back).
Malta's longest beach with shallow, safe water. Ideal for small children — you can walk 100 metres from shore and the water is still knee-deep. In season: lifeguards, equipment hire, toilets, restaurants.
Arrive early morning — before 9:30 before it gets crowded.
Aquarium with Maltese marine life, Caribbean reef, touch pools. Small children are fascinated. Air-conditioned — somewhere to escape the heat. Ticket approximately €12 adult, €8 child.
Turquoise water makes a huge impression on children. Remember: access is by boat only, very limited facilities on the island (1 toilet, 1 bar). Fine for children over 6. For toddlers — only if you're comfortable with rustic conditions.
Motorboat trips along the cliffs and through natural caves — usually 30 minutes, approximately €10/person. Caves with colourful water reflections. Children aged 4+ are enchanted.
