How to Get to Comino? All Boat Connections and Prices [2026]

Crystal-clear turquoise water, white limestone rocks, one of the most photographed spots in the Mediterranean — Blue Lagoon on Comino looks exactly like in the pictures. But to get there, you need to choose the right boat. This guide breaks down every connection, with prices and honest tips.

Cirkewwa — the simplest direct route

Cirkewwa ferry terminal and nearby Marfa on northern Malta are the gateway to Comino. From here to Blue Lagoon usually takes 20–30 minutes by boat, depending on operator and whether the boat loops past the caves.

Operators on this route include Comino Ferries / Comino Co-Op, Ebsons and smaller seasonal providers. The operator ticket often includes the required Blue Lagoon QR access pass, but always confirm the slot and last return when buying.

Getting to Cirkewwa: bus 41 or 42 from Valletta (approx. 50 min), or drive/taxi (30 min from central Malta). Large free parking at the terminal.

From Gozo (Mġarr) — perfect if you're based on Gozo

Staying on Gozo? You're lucky — Comino is your neighbour. From Mġarr harbour on Gozo, the crossing to Blue Lagoon takes just 15 minutes. And it costs less than from Malta.

NEW 2026: fast ferry Sliema / Buġibba → Gozo

Since 5 May 2026, Gozo Highspeed runs a new route: Sliema → Buġibba → Mġarr (Gozo). It is not a direct Comino ferry, but it makes Blue Lagoon logistics much easier if you are staying in Sliema, St Julian's, Qawra, Buġibba or St Paul's Bay: sail to Mġarr on Gozo, then connect to a short Blue Lagoon boat.

When does this make sense? When you start in Sliema/Buġibba and want to combine Comino with a short Gozo stop, or when northbound road traffic is bad. If Blue Lagoon is your only goal and you are already close to Cirkewwa, the direct Cirkewwa boat still wins.

Sliema — full-day organised cruises

From Sliema (The Strand) you can join organised day trips to Comino — multi-hour cruises stopping at Blue Lagoon, Crystal Lagoon and Santa Maria Bay. Main operator is Luzzu Cruises, using a large air-conditioned catamaran.

Buġibba — good base for north Malta tourists

From Buġibba / St Paul's Bay, several operators run day trips to Comino — including Sea Adventure and Captain Morgan boats. Slightly cheaper than Sliema, smaller boats (30–40 people).

3. Bring cash for Comino. There's a bar and restaurant on the island but card payment options are limited.
4. Snorkel mask is a must. The water in Blue Lagoon is transparent to 10+ metres. Without a mask you're missing half the experience.
5. Water shoes. The entry into Blue Lagoon is rocky and sharp. Flip flops are not enough — get proper water shoes.
6. SPF 50+ sunscreen. You won't feel the sun on the water. You will feel it that evening. Comino has no shade on the beach.
