The Gozo Ferry — 25 Minutes to Another World
“Maklowicz sails to the sister island and discovers that a 25-minute crossing is a journey through time”

Maklowicz announces: "We're sailing to Gozo. It's not a particularly gruelling voyage, as it takes about 25 minutes." But those 25 minutes change everything — from noisy, tourist-packed Malta you're transported to a green, peaceful island where time flows slower.
Practical: Gozo Channel Ferry
- Terminal: Ċirkewwa (northern Malta) → Mġarr (Gozo)
- Crossing time: 25 minutes
- Price: €4.65 return (you only pay on the way back!)
- Frequency: every 45 minutes in summer, every 75 minutes in winter
- Car: €15.70 return
Fast Ferry
Since 2021 there's also a fast ferry from Valletta to Mġarr — 45 minutes, €6.50 one way. An ideal option if you don't have a car — you skip the drive to northern Malta.
Maklowicz's Tips
The early ferry (7:00-8:00) is the calmest. The upper deck gives spectacular views of Comino and the Blue Lagoon. On Gozo it's worth renting a car — buses run infrequently. Maklowicz says: "On Gozo, time flows differently — slower, calmer, as it should."
