Many Poles skip Malta because of the language barrier. They're wrong. Here's the story of two retirees who navigated 7 days without a word of English.
Many people skip Malta for one reason: they don't speak English. That's a mistake. In February 2026, retired tourist Małgorzata D. published a post that went viral — and gave hope to thousands of Poles who thought Malta was out of reach for them.
"We're retirees aged 63+ and 67+, we don't speak the language. We managed a full 7-day stay on our own. Hotel Azur with breakfast + free airport taxi through Booking. Two tours with 'Twój Przewodnik na Malcie': 'Malta in One Day' and 'Gozo with Kamil' — brilliant, highly recommended!"
352 reactions. Not because the post was funny — but because it gave thousands of Poles hope that Malta was accessible to them too.
"At the attractions in Malta there are leaflets and audio guides in Polish. Visiting churches you can come across Polish masses — it feels like a Polish island, the same flag colours, Polish language everywhere."
This isn't an exaggeration. Poles are one of the most numerous nationalities among tourists in Malta. Polish leaflets, audio guides, masses, guides — the infrastructure exists and works.
This is the foundation of a stress-free stay. Dozens of Polish operators offer tours of Malta and Gozo with hotel pickup and commentary in Polish:
The hop-on hop-off tourist bus in Malta offers audio guides in 16 languages — including Polish. The office near Aqualuna has Polish-speaking staff.
Most major Malta attractions (Hypogeum, megalithic temples, Heritage Malta museums) have Polish-language materials. Ask at the ticket desk — they usually have them.
Both ride-hailing apps work entirely through the app — you don't need to say a word in any language. Destination is set in the app, payment is card-based.
Several churches in Sliema and Valletta hold regular Polish Catholic masses. Ask in Polish Facebook groups for the current schedule.

The essential pastizzi experience
“Pastizzi to najprostsze i najbardziej demokratyczne danie na Malcie — za pięćdziesiąt centów jesteś w raju.”
