According to the Bible (Acts 28), St. Paul shipwrecked here in 60 AD. He swam ashore, got bitten by a snake, survived, and converted the island to Christianity. Not a bad weekend trip.
Today, St. Paul's Bay (along with Bugibba and Qawra) is a major tourist hub. It's not as posh as Sliema, but it has character.
